Retreat to the sanctuary of an English Cottage Style Home with a distinctly old-world charm, safely nestled in the heart of Saxonwold one of the oldest suburbs in Gauteng. Built-in 1927, only 2 years after Saxonwold was established, this fabulously charming century-old home gives a wonderful feeling of country living.
Rise and shine in one of the four bedrooms, one of which leads to an en-suite bathroom. Cherish the sound of your children’s laughter as they prepare for the day. Whilst bubble baths and showers are taking place, there’s much fuss happening outside Prisca and Jacky’s residence, as Dodge the poodle and Sparkles, who is committed to remaining a grumpy kitty, chase one another.
Whilst Jacky is dashing around cleaning up the “little gifts” that Dodge has deposited on the grass, Prisca entices the family with the aroma of bacon and eggs wafting through the home, which brings Mom, Dad, Dodge, Sparkles, and the kids dashing to the open plan kitchen dining area leading out into the back garden, to enjoy breakfast the most important meal of the day.
Spend your weekends relaxing outdoors in a park-like environment, enjoying the songs of the vast bird-life, reading your favorite book in the enclosed sun-kissed patio, or creating homemade plumb, lemon, and mulberry jams and pies from your very own fruit trees.
After a day of fun in the Sun, Prisca prepares a feast for the family with fresh vegetables hand-picked from the veggie garden. Fit for Kings and Queens, dinner has been served with a bottle of wine that you retrieved from your underground cellar. Seated in the open plan dining area that looks out into the front garden through quaint bay windows, the kids proudly share their stories of climbing the large Yellow Wood tree and the treehouse that they built. Having thoroughly enjoyed a delicious meal, the family retreat with their favorite after-dinner drinks to the lounge that has a cosy fireplace, it’s one of the family’s favorite rooms in winter.
The kids are unusually quiet and you wonder what mischief they are getting up to. You eventually locate them alongside their colourful wigwams in the back garden. They have decided to camp in the well-established beautifully maintained lush flowering garden. Gazing up into the evening sky you feel at peace enjoying the blissful sound of nature soothing your soul.
And so, the weekend is over and the work week begins. Prisca ushers the kids to fetch their satchels, hands them a nutritious lunch pack with a flask of freshly made lemonade. On route to school, 1 of 19 in a 4km radius, the kids excitedly describe their activities for the week.
