As coronavirus cases in South Africa continue to rise, I would like to personally update you on how Adrienne Hersch Properties plans to operate in the face of the global Covid-19 pandemic, as well as detail the preventative measures that we've put in place to maintain the well-being of our clients and agents.
An important and unique attribute of this particular crisis is uncertainty. There are new developments each day. However, we're committed to continue operating as normally as possible under the circumstances.
Following President Cyril Ramaphosa's announcement of a National State of Disaster on Sunday 15 March, and his announcement of several proactive and preventative steps towards addressing the pandemic, we have implemented various operational, hygiene and safety measures in an effort to protect our agents, clients and wider community.
As a company, who has serviced Gauteng residents for almost 3 decades, we are committed to increasing awareness of Covid-19, as well as to introducing policies to reduce exposure to the virus. We urge you to please take special note of and adhere to the following preventative steps we will be taking as a company:
1. TRAVEL BAN
In light of the President's announcement of various travel bans, as well as his discouraging of all non-essential and local travel, our agents will not meet with any client who has travelled out of the country for at least 14 days after their return home.
In an effort to protect both our client and agents, No Showdays will be held until further notice.
As a result, we will be holding View by Appointments, ensuring the implementation of stringent measures and precautions including:
\- Agents are obliged to ask ALL clients if they are or have recently been ill or out of the country.
\- Our agents will be equipped with hand sanitizers. All agents and clients will be required to sanitize before and after entering the home.
\- The agent and client are not permitted to touch any surface in the home.
3. COMPANY HYGIENE
To all clients visiting our Houghton Offices or Olivedale branch, please note that the abovementioned travel ban applies. We will be completing routine cleaning within our offices daily. All frequently touched surfaces in the workplace, such as workstations, countertops, and doorknobs will be cleaned up to 4 times a day. Disposable wipes and hand sanitizer will be left at commonly used areas within the office, for clients and employees to use.
4. PERSONAL HYGIENE
We encourage all clients and agents to take the following steps to prevent infection / to avoid exposure:
\- Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
\- Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
\- Avoid close contact with others, especially those who are sick.
\- Refrain from shaking hands with others for the time being.
\- Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash / down the toilet.
\- Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.
5. SOCIAL INTERACTION
All clients and employees should:
\- Avoid crowded places.
\- Increase interpersonal distance (ideally separation of at least 2 metres, not shaking hands)
\- When in crowded settings, people should practice personal protective measures as they usually do (for example, frequent hand hygiene, avoid touching eyes/nose/mouth)
We encourage you to use our interactive website as well as the various property portals available to assist you in your property search. Our agents are all on-hand 24/7 to assist you with whatever queries you may have and have been fully briefed and trained on the above measures.
We wish you and your families the best over what will inevitably be a trying time and are committed to communicating with you as often as necessary as the situation unfolds.
As per the President's closing statement during his address: United we are strong - Divided we are weak. So, Let's stand United!!!!
